Cricket Ale IPA

Description:

My first IPA turned out really good. A bit of sweet on the front of the tongue with a full hoppy ‘bite’ at the back. If this beer would have turned out a bit more clear, I would have made labels and entered it in the county fair.

Ingredients:
  • 1 pounds, Brewcraft liquid Amber malt extract, unhopped
  • 4 pounds, unhopped Pilsner liquid malt extract, ME42E from More Flavor!
  • 2 pounds, unhopped light dry malt extract
  • 1 pound honey
  • 2 ounce, Amarillo hops (60 minute boil)
  • 1 ounce Centennial hops (60 minute boil)
  • 1 tsp Irish Moss (60 minute also)
  • 1/2 ounce, Cascade hops (30 minute boil)
  • 1/2 ounce, Cascade hops (10 minute boil)
  • Wyeast Labs American ale yeast, 1056
  • * Note* All hops were pellets, not loose *
OG: 1.070 FG: 1.012
Primary Ferment: 27 days
Procedure:

Add 1.5 gallons water to boil and add malt extracts, honey and the Amarillo & Centennial hops and Irish moss for a 60 minute boil. Add 1/2 oz Cascade hops for last 30 minutes of boil and add 1/2 oz Cascade hops for last ten minutes of boil. Strain into a sanitized bucket with seven pounds of ice to cool. Transfer into sanitized carboy, add water to fill to *almost* the top. Pitch yeast when temp is appropiate, When fermentation is complete, bottle.
